Free learning opportunities designed for cadets and future seafarers

Sails are back, batteries are on board and carbon capture is being tested. Find out which technologies are working at sea today and which are still promises.

About This Session

Fuel is only part of the story. Rotor sails, hybrid battery systems, shore power and onboard carbon capture are all being installed or trialled on real ships.

A technology developer or researcher gives you an honest look at each: how it works, where it fits, and what results ships are seeing. You will learn what these systems mean for the people who operate and maintain them.

Who Should Attend

Maritime students, cadets, junior officers, engineers and ETOs, and educators following new ship technology.

What You Will Learn

  • How wind-assisted propulsion works on modern ships
  • Hybrid and battery systems — and where they make sense
  • Shore power and what it changes in port
  • The principles and challenges of onboard carbon capture
  • How to judge a new technology's real-world potential

Real Case In This Session
